E.O.T.C (Education Outside The Classroom) Week.

E.O.T.C week is education outside the classroom week.  E.O.T.C week is where the trusted trekkers pick fun things for the year 5 and 6's to do or go to, the year 4's can also join in but only one day.  This year we went surfing and body boarding on Thursday, we went to Adrenaline Forest on Friday, we were going to go sailing on Monday but it was raining so it was canceled and on Tuesday we went to mega air and we did a fun challenge called top team.  Top team was at school and we got into groups then we started doing lots of different challenges against different groups.

In Mega Air we were jumping on lots of trampolines, and there was a foam pit in mega air, I learnt a cool trick on one of the trampolines, the trick was jumping from one platform onto a trampoline, then onto another platform in one jump, the platforms were a bit far away.  Mega air's rules were, no diving headfirst, no double or triple flips, remove all socks, shoes and jewelry, no phones or cameras while bouncing, take all photos from the walkways, no food or drinks on the trampolines, walk, don't run, don't jump on the pads, land on two feet, and always jump in the center of the trampolines.

If you can't jump onto a platform, you can't jump off, watch out for other jumpers, especially children, don't run in front of other jumpers, follow the jump guards instructions or you will be asked to leave, no hanging from the basketball hoops and bounce to your ability.  At Adrenaline Forest we got to climb up trees with clippers so we were safe, there was lots of challenges for us because sometimes the clippers got stuck and we couldn't pull them off so it took awhile.  I hope you enjoy some of these photos because I enjoyed everything in E.O.T.C week.

I have made a slide about onomatopoeia from comics, I have heard some of these noises from comics but I will be making new sounds for them.  In the past few weeks I have been learning about comics and onomatopoeia is in lots of different types of comics so, my teacher has assigned me to find noises of different things and then, record the noises then write what I thought they sounded like.  But there is a twist, I had to search and see if those words existed, and if they already did exist, then I couldn't use them.  I hope you enjoy.

I have been learning about Fiji and I have made a presentation about, Fiji that I would like to share with everyone.  I really enjoyed making this because I have learned new things about Fiji, but it was a bit challenging because I had to get a lot of information and remember some of it.  I hope you enjoy my presentation.

Today's Earthquake.

Today's earthquake was frightening.  The earthquake was in some of the north island and the south island of New Zealand, the earthquake started at midnight.  The earthquake was a 7.5.

All the students are safe at school now but some people are at home.  When an earthquake happens, get away from windows or anything that can fall on you, go under a table, act like a turtle and protect your head.  Earthquakes can make you dizzy, so try to hold onto something.  When the earthquake happened I felt like I was really dizzy but I wasn't dizzy enough to be knocked over and all I could hear was the door creaking and it sounded like fireworks, but I don't know why.

My Persuasive Story About Sushi.

Did you know that there are different kinds of sushi? The types of sushi I enjoy eating are, Inari sushi, Rolled sushi, and Sushi balls. You might have had different kinds of sushi but it is good to try them all!  Sushi is my favourite food!  These are my reasons why you should eat sushi as well!!!

Sushi doesn’t have much sugar or fat in it, so it is really healthy to eat!  Another reason why sushi is really healthy is because you can put fruits, vegetables, and other healthy things inside it!  Sushi is healthy because, the rice in it is healthy and it makes people full so it can last awhile if you have a lot, of sushi!

Sushi tastes delicious and nutritious because all the healthy food inside sushi and it makes sushi a long-lasting food!  Sushi smells delicious and amazing because the food inside sushi make it smell nutritious.  Sushi looks apptizing because of all the delectable, nutritious, yummy food inside it!

There are different types of sushi that are delicious to eat and amazingly nutritious, such as, uramaki and temaki, uramaki is sushi with rice on the outside, temaki is sushi hand-rolled into a cone shape!  Sushi is really easy to make, you can make it at your own house!  Also, sushi can be sold cheap so it won’t cost a lot of money!!!

You should go get some sushi, wait, you’re still here?  Oh, ok.  But seriously you should go get some sushi right now because I bet you’ll enjoy it!  You should just go, like, right now, ok, are you gone?  Just GO, buy some sushi, right, NOW!!

Today we made healthy food such as, Hawaiian Chicken Kebabs, Zucchini Parmesan Crisps, Fresh Fruit Smoothies and Fresh Salad Medley.  My group was making Zucchini Parmesan Crisps.  Mr. Todasco Took a lot of photos, now I will share them with you.

What I Learned About Food.

On The 28th of October 2016, I learned that if you check on the back of a packet, you can see the fat, sugar and sodium (Salt).  If the fat, sugar and sodium (Salt) are really low, that means it's more healthy.  I hope you enjoyed what I learned today but it is something you can check if you want to see if some food in a packet is healthy or not.

The First Swimming Day Of Term 4

Today our class went swimming at Canterbury swim school.  My swimming coach was Matthew.  Matthews group (including me) were doing freestyle, kicking and swimming in the long pool to the end with and without the boards.  I will show you a video of me swimming to the long end of the pool.  I am the one with the blue cap and I have a pink board, I am going to the middle of the pool, I hope you can spot me.

Five Nights At Freddy's

Down below I have put my groups movie that we have made this term. If you haven't seen the post below then the people in my group are Kalim, Isabella, Aiden, Remco and I.  It was really fun and challenging because we didn't know what to do but then the teachers came to help us for a little bit of time with making the movie.  We worked really hard on the movie and I'm glad we kept trying.  I hope you enjoy the video.  Please leave a comment about my movie.

This term my group have been making a movie.  The movie is about Five Nights At Freddy's, we are doing a music video about Five Nights At Freddy's.  The people in my group are Aiden, Isabella, Remco, Kalim and I.  To make the movie we used a program called Imovie.  We animated some of the characters and Imovie helped us edit and record us singing.My group is going to show our movie at a film festival we are having at Hornby Primary.  We have made a poster that is for our movie, we also have some pictures that Mrs Mclachlan has taken.  Making the movie is really hard and tricky to make because it was hard for us to learn how to use Imovie.  I hope you enjoy!

This is my DLO of the Bledisloe cup!  I found this challenging to find the correct information and fun to do.  I hope you like and learn information about the Bledisloe cup, also I added some pictures to clear it up a bit. My next step would be to write an article or a documentry.  One source I used was google drawings, I can stretch the drawing down and across to fit more information.

This is my DLO of dividing with remainders using larger numbers.  I think I could use this strategy when I am stuck on a 3 or 4 digit number divided by that has remainders.  I think this is a stage 6 or 7 strategy.  I hope that you enjoy my video.  I love making these videos for everyone to watch and learn from.  I really enjoy and find it challenging to explain in the videos that I make.  Next time I could use different strategy's and use the draw or pause button with screencastify.

My Short Olympic Quiz.

This is my Olympic quiz that I have created.  I really hope you enjoy, It was really fun to make.  We had to look at a range of websites to find the facts, then we had to create a slide or doc and create the title slide, then we had to create the questions and put the answers on.  My next step would be to create a short documentary so other people can be fact finders aswell, so I can present facts in different ways.  Also they can learn off it. Watch out for the warnings! :)

This is my first draft of my space chimp story, I am almost done my full version.

I was sent into space.

It’s 1961 right now, the NASA team are about to launch me and this rocket into space!  I’m at the NASA Space station on earth, I hear the echoes of my heart roaring like a lion because this is the most frightening moment of my life!  I feel like I am going to implode when i’m in space!  

Here we go!  “5, 4, 3, 2,” The NASA team was shouting the numbers out so loud I could hear them.

“ERROR, ERROR, ERROR, ERROR, ERROR.” Screeched the Computer.

“The rocket is going to explode starting from the bottom!”  

“1, LAUNCH THE ROCKET!” Said the NASA team.

I’m just a Chimp! I don’t want to die!  Yeah, that’s right I’m a Chimp! I’m so scared I could just run away, so fast, like a cheetah with the Flash’s power.

*gasp* I’m so lucky the space capsule detached from the rocket! I’m hearing from the team, they’re about to put me into a mega coma for 65 years!  They’re putting me in a mega coma for 65 years because they are going to do scientific research about space, they said to keep me healthy they have some cool machines! I…..’mmmm sooooooo  sleeeeeepppyyyy.

65 years later…….

I thought I was dead, but i’m, i’m in space.  I see beautiful nebulas, and wonderful stars surrounding the view.  I love the view of space, but I can’t wait to get home!  I’m staring at the most valuable ornament I could bring to space, a photo of me and Owen, my owner.  I can’t wait to go back to earth so I can see Owen!  Wait I see the days, hours and seconds it has been.  IT’S BEEN 65 YEARS!  Oh man I need to go back to earth now, the NASA team said they would bring me back in 65 years!  It’s time to go home, Yay!

I feel the burns of the sun, I don’t want to look!  If I do my maths correctly, it should be 2026 now.  I see I have not much fuel, I am seeing Mercury and Venus, the two closest planets to the sun. I…can’t….even….  It’s so beautiful like, shining, sparkling diamonds lighting up the view.  It’s earth!  I’m heading towards earth now!  I see the red mars acting like a shining sparkly ruby.  

I’m so close to earth!  I’m falling into earth’s atmosphere now!  I’m shaking so hard like a toddler rattling their toys back and forth like they want their food so bad.  I feel slow now because the parachute established so fast like a bullet being shot out of a gun.  

I now feel rigid state on my weak feet.

I look around only seeing a demolished, destroyed planet I never knew of. The trees on Earth have no leaves like people are just ripping them off and the trees are leafless like it’s winter.  The ground looks as dry as an african savannah.  The buildings are written of like a destroyed book.  One peculiar building has giant amounts of disgusting smoke and gas coming out it's chimney.  

I shed a tear, I don’t know what planet I’m actually on.  But also it’s not a planet, it’s our home.

Ow!  I’ve been kicked onto the ground!  “Who are you?  Why are you here?”  I asked while feeling drowsy.

“I….. Feel… Sleepy….”

I’ve been awakened!  “Who put me to sleep!?” I said while I was tired.

“Me.” Said an amazingly deep voice coming from behind me.

“Who?”

“Me, Caitlin.  Don’t you know who I am?”

“No.” I said while confused

“Well I’m the girl who got you from the zoo.  Do you remember me now?" said Caitlin.

“Yes! Yes! You! You’re my owner!” I said surprised.

“Well not really,” said Caitlin surprisingly.

“Oh.” I said while being sad.

“I’m your owner's girlfriend.  I came with him to get you from the zoo.  Wait, how can you understand me?” said Caitlin confused.

“Owen taught me to speak english!”

“That's amazing if you tell me, Space Chimp.”

“Well. Yeah!  That's a good name for me now.  Space Chimp.  I like it!” I was amazed.

“Okay, grab some weapons we have to go!”

“What!? Why!?” I was surprised and confused.

“This is the animapocalypse!”

“What's the anima pock chicken?” I said as I was super confused.

“It’s animapocalypse, the animapocalypse was caused by.  Him.”

“Who’s him?” I was dazed.

“Purple.  Guy.”

“Why did this all happen anyway?”

“Purple guy killed children and put them into animatronic suits, then the children wanted revenge, so the children thought all humans are purple guy now.” Caitlin started to look sad.

“Ooh.  That’s Harsh.”

“Yeah.  Come on let’s go.” Caitlin was angry now.

“Ok.  Ahh!  Help me!” I thought I was going to die.

“I got you.” Caitlin helped me, she smiled.

Caitlin got knocked out, I dragged her back to her hideout.

She was bleeding!  How could I help her?  Will she be ok?  There are so many questions I could ask right now!  Come on, where are the bandages?  Ha ha found them!  Caitlin you’re going to be ok.  I put a bandage over the cut,  she's not waking up!  I went outside and started shooting lots of animatronics. Come here you mean furbags!

Phew!  That took me a long time!  I’m going to check if Caitlin is ok.

“Caitlin are you ok?”

“Y...Yes. I’m okay.”

“That’s good.” I said awhile I was surprised.

“My… ear…”

“Wait WHAT!  You’ve been shot in the ear?! Oh no, oh no.”

“It’s okay, go on, without me.”

I heard a thud within a small distance of me. Caitlin has been bleeding for two minutes now.  There is a giant robot head!

“Caitlin what do I do?”

“WHAT?” Said Caitlin because she was almost fully deaf.

“WHAT DO I DO!?” I said as I was furious.

“Oh, Use… This….”

Caitlin gave me a minigun.  I shot the the giant robot, it was a giant head, but now, it’s rubbish.  I shot the remains of the robots, I got Caitlin bandaged up and took her to a building, surprisingly the building was not wrecked apart, It had doritos and mountain dew in it.  What is behind this door?  Oh, it’s just a pink sheep with a mustache? and a purple sheep with a monobrow?  Whats going on?

“HELlO HooMAns” said the purple sheep weirdly.
“Purple Shep you are so ugly like that weird mouse.” the Pink Sheep almost made Caitlin faint.

“Umm, his name is Purple shep?” I said as I was confused.

“It’s ok I am a true prankster gangster, I will show you my basketball pro skills.”

“HooMAnS CaN yoU PLEasE GivE Me A TOAStEr So I CaN STIck My HEAd IN iT?”

Me and Caitlin grabbed some doritos and mountain dew and then left.  Have we found victory, or found beauty?  We have found a mansion!  It is made from the finest titanium, hopefully some people are inside it.  Oh my, there is, a watermelon!  Tons of watermelons!  A big enough food supply that we can survive 3 years with this!  And look, there is a huge variety of water, and lots of toilets?  Well of course this thing has lots of items in it! It’s HUMONGOUS!  It turned night time, I found 2 beds for me and Caitlin to sleep in, goodnight.  

“AHH!!!”  My chest hurts!  Wait is that an animatronic?  It looks like it’s been mangled,  I take out my most prized possession that I have, goodbye Owen, I start to hug Caitlin.  At least I had a really good journey.  

“Goodbye, cruel world!  My journey is coming to an end.”

Slowly and painfully, I die as the mangled animatronic dies from blood malfunctioning it’s system.  Goodbye.

This is my DLO (Digital Learning Object). This is for maths, I am talking about using Grid Method.  To do this I needed to know how to partition, times, and add.  My Next step would be to multiply 3 digits x 3 digits and 4 digits x 4 digits.  I would use this strategy when I come across a maths question that is a 2 digit x 2 digit.  I found this strategy  easy to use.

Moose Adaptation Model-Antlers

We have been looking at animal adaptations and how they survive in the wild.  My adaptation is the Moose Antler model.  I have made a clay model, This is my non painted clay model.  I have found information about Moose antlers, I will tell you some facts.

The largest Moose antlers are from the Alaska Moose with Antlers with a span of 6 feet.  Bulls in their prime, between ages 5 and 8, have the largest racks.  

Males are immediately recognizable by their huge antlers, which can spread 6 feet (1.8 meters) from end to end.  Female Moose do not have antlers, Male Moose are incredibly strong.   Male Moose use their antlers to battle for female and to fight predators.

The Calf's Horrible Good Day

It’s a beautiful day outside in the sandy Savannah in Africa.  The sun was out of the clouds, in fact the clouds aren't here at all because it was so warm!  It was October the 17th, my herd and I were trying to find an entrance to the river bank, so we could have a drink. My herd and I were walking down the river bank.  I really hope I can grow to be a big strong buffalo like my dad, so I can protect the herd from danger, like from lions, tigers, leopards and cheetahs, maybe not cheetahs because they’re too fast.

My herd and I were walking down the river bank again to find leaves or grass because we love the taste of mouthwatering grass and leaves.  Instead we saw a pride of lions coming to eat us, so we were running for our lives! I was really slow and the lions caught up to me with their fast speed adaptation added to their legs so they can grab their prey. I hear the lions coming towards my herd and I. They gripped onto me with their furious blood lurking teeth to crush me.  For me it felt like I was going to implode into nothing.  I felt like a chew toy. The lions pulled me to the side of the river bank away from my family so my family couldn't rescue me!  Why did I come here? I should have known this is where lions live!  I really hoped my family will save me, so I can get away from the furious hollow boned lions.

Then I thought I could smell a crocodile, I saw a crocodile! The lions and the crocodile are pulling me apart like a chew toy to eat me! I felt like I was bleeding everywhere, the lions pulled me harshly, then it felt like I was dying so I couldn't be revived!  The lions were too strong for the crocodile and the crocodile let go so the lions took me back onto land.

Please save me dad, I really hope I will survive.  What am I kidding I’m not going to survive an attack from lions and a crocodile!  

It was tiring because of the heat of the burning sun. Blood sweat and tears were draining from my limp body.  The Sun was making me sweat as if I was going to die!  I felt as if my bones were breaking and I was going to die! It was atrocious like it was the end of my herd and I.  I felt that my energy was drained enough for me to stop moving.  I felt like nothing existed.

I saw my herd coming back to rescue me. My dad was charging like a lightning bolt towards one of the lions and then he shot the lion away, before  grabbing me from them. I saw my dad end a lion by throwing the lion furiously away into the river bank. My herd kicked the lions out of the space that we need.  The lions sprinted away from us because we beat them up. We found a new home.  I hope they don’t come back again.  If they do, I will get hurt.

My family came back to save me, It was a relief. But now I have won and it is my time to stand up for myself and win every time anything comes to attack.

The Calf's Horrible Good Day

I have made an animal that has great information about itself. I will now show you my animal. I hope you enjoy.

Zolbat

Habitat: Treetops, and in Savannah's.

Diet: omnivore

Zolbat eats a range of foods including Fish, Plants, meat and Berries.

Head: Wolf

They are born deaf and blind but can hear within a few days and see in eleven days.

Body: Zebra

Even though Zolbat weighs from 227 to 272 km (500 to 600 lb),  Zolbat can run 64 km (40 mi) per hour.

Legs: Secretary Bird

With very large, broad wings, Zolbats are also strong fliers and use thermal air currents to rise and soar.

Tail: Cat

They have excellent senses of smell and hearing. By rotating their ears, Zolbats can quickly find the source of a sound.
