Aim: To make rainbow paper
Materials:
-Filter paper
-Water based felt pens
-Cup of water
Steps:
1. Fill a cup with a tiny amount of water
2. Get a strip of Filter paper and grab two different colours of water based felt pens.
3. 1cm up from the bottom of the strip, draw a light line with pencil across and then draw one circle for each colour anywhere on the line.
4. Dip the bottom of the paper in the water where the circles are on the paper and fold the back of the paper behind the cup so it doesn't fall off.
5. Wait until the colours mix.
Conclusion: I learnt that this is called chromatography and it is used by forensic scientists to see if someone has forged something. I have also learnt that some things can be fun. (However this is not)
My group didn't do so well and so we didn't see what we were supposed to. The colours were supposed to travel up the piece of paper but for my group they didn't. I don't know why but other groups work looked pretty cool.
